Gramercy Opera to produce STORY OF AN HOUR in NYC

My one-act operetta, STORY OF AN HOUR, with music by Michael Valenti, will be performed by Gramercy Opera on Friday, December 13th at 7 pm and Saturday, December 14, at 3 pm, at the Montauk Club in Park Slope, Brooklyn. It's the main event in a program called "A Gramercy Opera Christmas." The program will also include a rendition of "A Child's Christmas in Wales" by Anthony Laciura, a noted tenor of the Metropolitan opera, as well as Christmas carols sung by the cast and the Gramercy Opera Children's Chorus.

If you can make it, I'd love to see you there!

STORY OF AN HOUR is set on Christmas eve in the late 1890s in an English mansion and is based on the Kate Chopin tale "A Story of an Hour." The operetta premiered with the Portland Chamber Orchestra, and a carol from the piece has been sung at Christmas mass by the choir at St. Patrick's Cathedral.

As the Portland premiere included a 32-piece orchestra, the composer and I are excited to see the upcoming production, in this lovely and intimate setting, accompanied by just piano, bass, and harp.
